We use your details only to make and hand over your order. We never sell them, and we do not use them for marketing.
Who we are
Mei Wah, trading as Mei Wah Chinese Takeaway, 68 Fore Street, Chudleigh, Devon TQ13 0HT, is the controller of your personal information. To ask a question or make a request, ring 01626 853714.
What we collect
- Your name and phone number, so we can identify your order and ring you if there is a problem.
- Your email address, if you give one, so we can send a confirmation.
- What you ordered, any note you add, and when you ordered.
- Whether you paid by card or chose to pay cash on collection, and a payment reference. Card details go straight to Square. We never see or store them.
- Technical information such as your IP address, which our website host and security tools use to keep the site working and to block fake orders.

We do not make decisions about you by computer alone, and we do not sell your information. We do not use it for marketing.
Who we share it with
These companies handle your information for us, on our instructions only. Some may process it outside the UK, in which case they use approved safeguards.

Staff at the shop see your name, phone number and order so they can prepare it. We may also share information if the law requires it, for example with the police, HMRC or a regulator.
How long we keep it
Order details in our ordering system, including your name, phone number, email address and any note you add, are deleted automatically each night after the day you ordered. This means we cannot look up an order from a previous day, so please keep your confirmation email.
To stop fake orders we keep a scrambled (hashed) record of order attempts, which cannot be turned back into your phone number or IP address, for up to 2 days.
Payment and takings records are kept differently. Card payments are also recorded by Square, which keeps transaction records under its own rules and legal duties. The shop keeps its till and accounts records for 6 years because tax law requires it. Copies of data held by our service providers, for example in backups, may remain for a short time after deletion before they are removed.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or object to our use of it. You can also ask for a copy you can move elsewhere. These rights have some limits, for example we must keep financial records. Ring us on 01626 853714 or ask in the shop, and we will reply within one month. Because we delete orders each night, we will usually no longer hold your order details by the time you ask.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies and similar technology
This site uses only what it needs to work, such as remembering your basket. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent.
Security
Your information is held on secure services, access is limited to staff and our website developer, and payments are handled by Square. No system is perfectly secure, and if we ever lose your information in a way that puts you at risk we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update it here and change the date at the top.
